Today, a coordination meeting took place within the frame of the IRISS project, so that opinions of the SusChem network, namely the European Technology Platform (ETP) and the five Regions of National Technology Platforms (NTPs) be aligned, with respect to the network participation in the progress of the project. SusChemGR explained the preliminary action plan until June 2023, which it shared with the other NTPs in the South and West Region (RO, BG, GR, IT, ES, FR, UK) on Monday 6th February, namely mapping of stakeholders in each country and carrying out regional informative and interactive workshops in every value chain dealt with in IRISS, namely packaging, textiles, construction chemicals, automotive, energy, electronics and (only recently) fragrances.

In the next few days, the recording will become available of the IRISS Workshop of last November, in which -among others- the findings of mapping of the state of value chains are analysed with respect to implementation of the SSbD framework, whilst training material for the SMEs is already under preparation, in two packages: one for those SMEs which research and develop new chemicals and new materials, where the SSbD framework will need to be applied and one for those SMEs who use chemicals and materials downstream in the value chain, which will need to learn the effects of the SSbD framework upon their supplies. Let it be noted, that the SSbD framework is still under shaping and will remain under test by the European Commission for two years, before it becomes mandatory for Research and Development of chemicals and materials.
